It Could Have Been Prose

It could have been prose
That took me across the line
From the goodly heights
Of a great good day
Of some five thousand words
To the next beyond
Aye six good thousand
But I had to be here
And Since July
I ain't but missed a day
And I'm not about to start now

So it's poetry again
That I end the day with
Because I care about you
Which you know to be true
Because you do not lie with verse
It's a vehicle for truth

And with that said
Since I have this care
And am always here
No matter how late in the day
I have to say
What's your care for me
Not that I ask for much
Just a buck or three
Which would give to you
So much more
Than you should expect to get yourself now
With such a pittance
That you should almost be ashamed
At giving me this pittance
For oh so much

Or is it crass
To speak of such weighty matters
When you are here
To let your mind be blown
By my good skill
In the play of words
That you don't want to think
Of material things
You just wish to feel the flow
Of my good way
With poetry yes

And I'm more than happy
To do this here
But let's be frank
Money makes the world go round
And it should pay
To be profound

But seeing as I feel
There won't be no deal
Not between us now
I'll smile and let you be
Safe in the knowledge
That I'll be be here tomorrow
And all the days to come
That carry the date
Of this good year
Never you fear
I'm here until then

It could have been prose
That took me from the fives
Into the sixes
That's them thousands of words of course
But I had to rhyme my way
Through  the bloggeth eh
So prose it had to wait
Though I had a thought before
Of a one and done tale
When it came to the writing
Of these good words
It was poetry that flowed out first

But I guess if what you wanted
Was a spot of prose
You'd comment this
If not straight away
Then in a day
So the ball  it is
Yes in your court
I'll see you then
For now I say
Good night fair readers
I had me a writing good
For you to have a reading well
And that is how it should but be
That is how it should but be indeed
