Imagine A World

Imagine a world
As we knew it once
For the longest of times in fact
But failures to act
And our own stupidity
Led to a change
But long in coming
I'm sad to say

Yet all good hope
It was not lost
Though the cost
Was terribly great
On the kind of man
There was a plan
Enacted at the last
As a band of survivors
Were yes but cast
Into the distant morrow
As the sorrow fell
On all the rest

Aye billions died they did
But we did not
Not as a race
Though our place
Was cracked and broken
Hope was spoken
Like a whisper soft
And as ages passed
Without the harming touch
Of man ourselves
The Earth it changed
And knit itself back
Though stranger than
It had but been
Since forever yes
There was success
For both the land
And man as well

So these descendants
From man's last age
Came to  a stop
In the distant future
Staying certain sure
That they'd be safe
By keeping to their city
Yes high above
The land below
So they might know
The land that time forgot
The goodly Earth
Yes good once more
