Not So Sudden
It seems a little sudden
That I would need to wear
These damnable glasses
Each and every time
I come to write
Or even just to surf
When I foolishly thought
That I would be the one
To never have the "fun"
Of glasses on my face
Save for months
I've owned a pair
So friendly priced
I could actually have a spare
And not feel broke
Not that they are
Rightful specs
That cost an arm and a leg
And make me beg
Or pray perhaps
For a miracle yes
Where my eyes are once again
The goodly way
That once they were
For all the years
Save the last past two
But age it marches on
And never returns
To a previous state
No matter how good
Once it's been decided
By genes and happenstance
That you must be this
You have to be that
Like thin to fat
Or somewhere in between
If you find the balance
And that is more of chance
Than my genetics
Though here I be
Most concerned with
My lesser eyes
And the irksome need
To wear these glasses now
Though I think of them
As sexy on the face
Of a lady fair
It was always a problem there
And not but one of here
Of course I must admit
As the problems of ageing goes
Needing glasses of the like
That I now but need to use
Is hardly the worst
Of conditions to have
So don't expect
A weekly woe is me
My eyes aren't what they use to be
It seems a little sudden
But it's been round the corner
For a couple of years
And time has been good to me
Waiting until now
To say you need this help to see
