Spleck: Creyonah Special #6
Poor Percival he does not take well to the sudden appearance of strangers., especially non-pencillites, who he has found to be most disruptive and not at all pleasant to deal with because he's not some kind of ist you know.
Because he's sounds very ist if his first instinct is to look at all strangers with his back up.
And with his powerful beak, if he lost his cool, he could very quickly do damage to someone that he attacked.
Or do you think that it is only the pen that is mightier than the sword?
The pencil is too.
At least if you ask a Pencilite who are not at all shy with their opinions.
Especially with strangers.
"Well, you're the one who appeared here unexpectedly and unwanted if I'm being honest with you. So don't take that tone with me. So once again, who are you and what are you doing here?" He demanded of the interloper. A clock and clocks were always to be mistrusted because time was unbeaten and always stole your fun away before you realized it.
"Oh, you're one of those unfriendly ones aren't you? Little Pencil." She said with a dismissive laugh before she smiled coldly and answered his fair question. "I am Amaitaea and I am on a long journey and I need to rest for a bit before I continue it. I trust you can find me a place to stay for a few days?" She asked, smiling ever so slightly this time as she well knew that it was the best way to make things happen in the way that she wanted them to.
He made a face and closed his beak with a snap, looking very much like he wanted to clamp down on her with that fierce beak of his, though Percival is not the fighting kind.
And if he was to pick a fight with anyone, he was sure to lose because he was as she had already noted, on the smaller side. Especially when compared to a clock like Amaitaea who would surely flatten him beneath her bulk.
Not that she was heavy, or any heavier than she was meant to be, but she could surely pin him with ease. Ane he knew that.
"Never let it be said that we the Pencilites of Spleck cannot roll with the punches of life and extend the hand of friendship, metaphorical or otherwise, to those who pass by our land. Let me take you to the Main Street Grill where you can eat while I arrange a place for you to stay for the few days that you spoke of." He said stiffly, as he was not quick to warm up to someone.
"Thank you....it's too kind of you." She said, allowing for the pregnant pause to be filled with his name.
"Percival." He said, picking up on the point of her leaving the words hanging there, unfinished and awkward, like she didn't have the brainpower to finish her thought, which was something he worried about when dealing with the non-pencilites that he had the misfortune of meeting.
She smiled. "Percival, that's a strong name. You must be strong then." She said, sounding like she was actually happy to have met him now.
He shrugged, which in an unarmed pencil is more of a jump up and down which is certainly odd to look at. And it's also why he didn't do it often. "Come with me please, you must be hungry and the food that they serve at the Main Street Grill is to die for. And they always have room for one more at the table." He continued, sounding less like a jerk and more like a good egg. As much as pencils can be good eggs.

The story will continue of course, I just don't know when. But it must continue at another time because right now I am in need of some more words because those have been in short supply today.
And while I could do that over in my Book Of Fish, I'm already here and writing.
Besides, Shoe and Football would be hurt if I didn't mention them and who wouldn't mention a sentient pair like them.
And yes, they are together and quite happily too. Or do you think that Football doesn't like flying through the air?
Also, don't bother asking if Shoe likes to kick Football, because Shoe surely does.
But Shoe And Football are on the flipside for a reason, this isn't about them.
So they will have to accept this as the extent of their appreciation.
Maybe today is not meant to be one of those good peak days, though it could be that I made this the only result that could be when I skipped out on the first quarter and didn't spend much time on writing in the 2nd and 3rd quarters which means I have so much to write.
Perhaps too much as the latest count wasn't even at 1500 words for the day.
That's not good.
That means I have to write some 2500 words as of that latest count, with precious little time to improve on the tally that I have gathered though two quarters.
Oh bother.
This is not the return of the lulls!
I can still reach the 3rd good peak. And failing that, I can surely reach 3000 words, which is a thousand less.
But even if I fail to first good peak it today, tomorrow's a brand new day and I will make that one the kind that it should be because this is not a return to the lulls that I had when I first left home.
It isn't!
And stop laughing, because that's not nice of you to laugh at me like that!
😀
As for now, this is the end of this posting.
