So, what happened to Torruth as he was stuck in the little village just prior to Saturnalia?
He encountered some seasonal Animal Spirit and it's living helper bird and I haven't heard from him since.
What's the worst that could happen in an encounter with a seasonal spirit eh?
Meanwhile, in the real world, in the midst of a season that started well, but hit a putrid patch of pathetic results, after which they've rebounded some, the Montreal Canadiens are two periods into a game that is not going their way.
Once again losing to a team that they should be able to beat if they are in fact the playoff team that we think them to be.
Even now, if they can play like the team that beat the defending Stanley Cup Champion St. Louis Blues and the runner up Boston Bruins, Washington Capitals, New York Islanders and Pittsburgh Penguins once.
That feels like a big if when they've lost to the New jersey Devils twice and look fully capable of losing to the Detroit Red Wings for a second time.
Oh bother indeed.
Just the other night I was figuring out the teams that have won since the Canadiens were last the Stanley Cup winners and six teams have won multiple Cups since.
Including the Detroit Red Wings, in better days, with four in 97, 98, 02 and 08.
But also the New Jersey Devils in 95, 00 and 03, The Chicago Blackhawks in 10, 13 and 15 and the Pittsburgh Penguins in 09, 16 and 17 with three each.
And the Colorado Avalanche in 96 and 01 and LA Kings in 12 and 14 for two each.
The rest are all one time winners, The New York Rangers in 94, Dallas Stars in 99, Tampa Bay Lightning in 04, Carolina Hurricanes in 06, Anaheim Ducks in 07, Boston Bruins in 11, the Washington Capitals in 18 and the St. Louis Blues in 19.
There's also the teams that have been to finals and lost, some of whom who have gone on to win in other years, either before or after but this is sadding enough.
On the other hand, much to the eternal annoyance of straight up haters, the Habs have won 24 Stanley Cups and the closest teams are the Toronto Maple Leafs with 13 and the Setroit Red Wings with 11.
Futt me!
The Red Wings just scored to go up 2-0 in the 3rd period.
Dammit Habs.
And you can't score on your power plays.
No, bad teams are going to win against better teams, but twice losing to both the Devils and now the Red Wings?
You have to be better than that Habs.
Or damn well should be!
And this is a home game before they go on the road for seven straight.
Ugh.
Obviously, the haters are laughing and thinking well the Habs aren't a playoff team, but these next seven games could prove them right.
Oh bother.
And yes, 1993 was long time ago.
But. 24 is a number that won't even be approached in my lifetime, so that is some comfort.
That's just the truth haters!
Non e of that matters tonight though as the Red Wings were the better as they won, well, they're 1:07 from winning, a 2-0 shutout As I write these words that I didn't want to be writing.
At least it wasn't shutout.
Though it was in and out fast enough that it needed to be reviewed.
But it counted.
Can they come back to tie it though? That all important 2nd goal made it comfortable for the Red Wings.
And even now, that one goal lead is hugs.
Especially with less than 20 seconds.
Oh bother.
They lost.
The Red Wings were once again, the better team.
Ugh.
Find your way to better eh.
