Das Hier #34

Thadda Barruthe was surprised. And it showed in his eyes as his lifemate had just told him that she had found another and wanted nothing more to do with him.

What was worse though, she had just told him that she had fallen for a human.

He could think of nothing worse than for her to want a human when their peak life was forty years and theirs was twice that, which wouldn't have been a problem if they were in the fresh flush of new love because he could hold onto the hope that she might come back to him at the end, which he could stomach...

eventually.

Unless he found someone else of course.

Not that he wanted anyone else. in spite of her terrible slap across the face, if she begged him for forgiveness he would take her back in a heartbeat because no one was perfect and they had been together and been happy for the whole of that time.

Or that was what he would have sworn to in the minutes before she told him that she needed to talk to him.

But they were halfway through the prime of their life and she had just sworn to him that she wanted this human and if she took to him like she was convinced that she would, there'd be no time for them when her stupid human died.

"How did you even meet this wretched male anyway?" He asked her, his lifemate of 40 years who'd just broken his two loving hearts.

"It really doesn't matter. Thadda
All that matters is that I did and we fell in love and I knew that I couldn't love two and I love him more than you." She said, finding it hard to look him in the eyes because she was a decent Thobedean which was why he'd found it so easy to fall in love with her all those years ago.

"it matters to me Tohtha, but I don't want to argue with you because you have your mind made up that you love a stupid human." he said, not caring whether he was a good human or not because he was a human that had taken his lifemate away from him. And he had't even known there was a problem.

All things considered, he was taking it very well because you can be sure that if a human had just been told that his wife was leaving her husband for an alien, he would be beside himself in rage.

Even if he'd never harbored any ill-will towards aliens in principle.

Or actually, in a world where aliens were a small part of the day to day life of modern man.

"I don't want to argue with you either Thadda. I still love you, but I love Harrison more and need to be with him. So don't for a moment think this is easy for me.

"Harrison Wentworth?" He said as he immediately sussed out the truth. Wait, he's an old human. How can you want him..."

She made a face. "You're thinking of his father Thadda. It's Harrison the Third that I have fallen for, not his father, who is old and not at all appealing to me as an in my prime Thobedean. If you must know.

"You expect me not to know? How do you propose doing that my dear? He said, spitting at the word dear, since she no longer wanted to be his dear." He asked, as he felt his anger rising.

Damn,I'm some kind of good at my best aren't I? You want to read the story of an alien and her male lover who has come between her and her loving lifemate don't you?

Forgive me for being quite pleased with myself, but I have reason to be because this is a heck of a start,

But as you know, I won't be presenting this story beyond today.I will finish it away from your curious eyes because that's just how it has to be.

Unless you found it in your heart to support me in which case I would be more than happy to show you more of this story that resonates with me quite a lot right now.

Though that can be a discussion for another day as time is fast running out in this first quarter that got off to late start as I went to the club.
