RME Black #1
It's time for Justice, the 8th episode of Star Trek; The Next Generation, as any day is a good day for good television.
The crew has just been busy establishing a new colony and Dr. Crusher wants the crew to be given shore leave on another planet, presumably nearby.
And most of the main cast went down to the planet, leaving only Picard, Data and Laforge onboard.
Even Wesley went down.
They beamed down to planet Adam, Eve and all the rest with their perfect bodies enjoy their pda .
Troi was looking at Riker like she was annoyed that her man was enjoying other women.
Yes, they had a history but they weren't together and were friends
That young lady running with the other two boys was happy to be joined by Wesley, like she was tired of her friends and was happy to have someone new to pda with.
But it wouldn't have been much of an episode if there hadn't been something adventurey or moral to happen.
And they went with two paths of excitement as there was a threat above, in the form of "God" and below as Wesley broke a law, which caused some damage that was easily repaired as he fell into some new plants.
Yeah, poor plants no doubt but against the cost of a human life, nah man.
I am of course most set against the death penalty but even if I was for it, it should only be used for the most serious of offences and tripping into some freshly planted plants ain't that.
The more interesting part of the episode was their interactions with God, who, as it turned out, wasn't a single entity and was a collective of a race that evolved from living like us to being able to exist in multiple dimensions.
Like the Organians on steroids, though they did have a vessel of sorts that the Organians didn't need.
But multiple dimensions eh, that's a neat trick. This of course begs the question how old is the God Race and will humanity ever reach such a point?
We're far from being worthy of ascending to such a state as that kind of power could ravage space itself, destroying planets with ease.
Many of us wouldn't want anywhere near that kind of power anyway.
And too many of those who would, would be scary with it.
One comes immediately to mind, but that's perhaps too easy a thing to say. And would be judged by some as showing me as being deranged.
They forget, or ignore that such a derangement can be seen from both sides.
And frankly, the for its are more likely to deranged than not.
But that's neither here nor there because we humans are never going to have that kind of power.
At least not in our lifetimes.
If ever.
They barely touched on the God people, who had a difficult conversation with Data.
And were never seen again in this series or any of the other sequel series.
As for the terrible crime that Wesley committed, he wasn't executed because he was taken away, though "God" let them take him away after briefly preventing them beaming back to the Entreprise.
Sadly that made the people themselves feel a mix of emotions, none of which were good as they were angry, sad and feeling like they were being looked down upon.
It would have been nice to see a return visit to planet pda.
Dare I say that this episode was better than
The Naked Now?
