The Russell Macklemore Experience #13

Untimed

Too Short A Season is tonight's episode of the first season of TNG and by the title alone, it is all too sadly fitting what with the cancelling of the rest of the seasons of the NBA and the NHL, though there's hope on the part of the NHL for having the playoffs.

More on that later.

Right now, I am writing about this episode.

Hostages have been taken on some planet and they call on an old dude who negotiated a deal there when he was young and not looking older than than his stated age of 85 because man, he looked much older than that.

Dare I say, as old as Admiral McCoy, who had a cameo in Encounter At Farpoint.

But he had started to take a stupid therapy that started to make him young.

Though it cost him the immediate affections of his wife, who was disgusted by his choice to use this therapy.

And then we found out that the governor of the planet had taken the hostages himself.

He had unfinished business with Admiral and Negotiator Mark Jameson from their first negotiation.

One which resulted in 40 years of Civil War because he gave both sides weapons.

Oops.

Taking the overdose of the de-aging formula, which was never touched on again,  was a fatal choice for the admiral.

Though he at least made it it planetside before he died which gave the governor a chance to not kill him for revenge.

But the whole fatal thing made that gesture moot as he died immediately after.

Luckily his wife was by his side, but he lost out on the last years of his life.

Did he even make up for the harm that he had caused?

I'd say no.

Not that the 40 years of war was all his fault because both sides could have negotiated for peace long before the war ended and chose not to.

I liked the episode, even if others have called out some of the acting in this one.

And no, not Denise Crosby's acting which I didn't caref or at times.

You going to come at me for that comment?

Then have at it.

meanwhile, in the here and, the NHL is on a pause, which I think won't be resolved with any kind of playoffs for this season.

But if we could have a 24 team playoffs, that would be hella cool, especially since it would involve the Canadiens and the Blackhawks as they are both seeded 12.

The Canadiens would play the Penguins in their only series, in the scenario that I read.

Do you think the Habs would beat the Pens as they have shown themselves to able to play since November? They would only have to win twice but man, how would they even beat the Pens once with the way they have played since then?

If such a scenario was even gone ahead with because i don't think the NHL or the NBA are going to celebrate a championship this season because of COVID-19.

It sucks, but better the swift and decisive action that they took than to play on with even no fans because players could have died.

So no fans who would be outraged about the Habs and Blackhawkks making the playoffs this season, the Habs wouldn't make it past the Penguins so you can rest easy.

As for the Blackhawks, I don't think the haters would mind if they won a round or two.

Of course, ten years ago the Penguins and Canadiens met in a regular playoff series and the Canadiens did dispatch them in a seven game series.

And that team shouldn't have beaten the Penguins then. But this would be a bigger upset for sure because this team has too often sucked since November.

And COVID-19 is not going to let such a thing happen anyway. The next seasons of the NFL, the NBA and NHL are in jeopardy imo because it's going to get worse before it gets better.

Inevitably more people will die becuase there's no miracle cure that's about to be discovered in the next couple of days, weeks or months.
