The Russell Macklemore Experience #3

I missed out on catching the original run of Star Trek while it was airing by a number of years, being born as I was on the fourth of May in 1979, which was ten years after it went off the air.

But I was the right age to catch its second sequel series, Star Trek: The Next Generation and enjoyed watching every single episode of it while it was running, which I was very happy to watch because I was able to watch all the episodes of TOS thanks to it being so freely rerun when I was growing up.

It's been many years since I watched the whole series and when I saw that it was being rerun, on one of the stations that I subscribe to I decided to record all 176 episodes and then watch them through to the end.

In January, I thought that I would watch an episode a day but that didn't turn out as it's now March and I have only watched the first three episodes.

If I am going to write about all of them, the proper place to start would have been with the two part series premiere of Encounter At Farpoint but I already saw the first three episodes in January and March is too soon to watch them again, though of the first season, The Naked Now is as I remember it, the best episode of that long ago first season.

But this is the fourth,Code Of Honor and I wasn't looking forward to rewatching it because it was sure to be mehful to say the least.

But the deeper that I got into it, the more I like it and it's one of the gooder ones of the first season, or was it two, that were the least of the series with a few notable exceptions.

I guess I should write about the episode a little eh?

Umm.

There was a plague and a vaccine was needed and the people who had it look remarkably like us, which sure cuts down on the cost of filming an episode when they don't need special costuming or makeup.

They provided a sample of the necessary vaccine but that's when shiite went down and they took Yar as a Counting Coup because their leader took not only a shine to her but wanted to use her for other means.

As I remember from watching it tonight, but it's already confused in my head.

There was a fight to the death that was undone and their leader lost his power and his wife took another as her first and he was demoted to second.

Dude, that was such a stupid play on your part.

Oh and there was stuff done with young Wesley Crusher, the doctor's son.

In case you needed to be reminded of who he was.

His character didn't make it through the end of the series, but only because his actor wanted to do other things because I don't recall there being any stories to the contrary

And now I've continued to watch the fifth episode, The Last Output, which gave us the first encounter with the Ferengi, who were originally supposed to be a serious foe for the Federation.

That didn't work out as they have been nothing more than a joke for the past 33 years.

And not a good one in my estimation.

But this episode is shaping up to be one of the gooder ones as well as they are both caught in a force field that is draining their power.

They've also found themselves in the former stomping grounds of a long dead race.

Don't you hate it when that happens?

Of course, that's a far more flippant answer than I want to give because that's a sad thing.

Unless of course they would have been asses who would have been dangerous to us.

Still, I'm not ready to say I'm glad that they are dead.

And that was that. The ending was anti-climactic, to say the least and too easily glossed over but that didn't take away from the episode for me.

It's more of a that ended poorly than I hate the episode and I'm going to delete all 176 episodes of the series without watching them again.

That'd be some kind of stupid.

Though it would free up a lot of space in my pvr, which i could surely use.

But that is neither here nor there as I don't intended to delete all the episodes until I've watched them.

Then again, what I should do is delete the episodes that I have watched.

For some reason I haven't done that yet.

I could easily watch a third episode tonight but I think two is enough today.

Besides, I have other things that need to be done and I'm going to have at them.

Live long and prosper won't you?
