The Russell Macklemore Experience #4

The Canadiens needed to keep winning, which is an always thing with any team vying to make it to the playoffs, but especially with their having the kind of season that they've had.

They have no wiggle room like they had even a month ago when their path to the playoffs was already demanding.

Now it's even less so.

Fine it's dang near improbable.

So being down 3-0 after two periods is not the kind of result they needed tonight.

Though it beats the too often means of losing that they have done this season where they would take a lead only to lose it with a frustrating regularity.

So this is almost better.

No, it's not any kind of good, but it's different.

What isn't new though is yet another night where they've given up more than two goals.

They've had too many of those games this season.

And it figures, that on the night I have the interest i counting out how many times they've given up at least that many goals, which is at least twenty, the first site that I went to for this frustrating count, is not allowing me to find my way to their schedule.

Should I put that site on blast?

That's just frustration talking because I know that I've been able to find the schedule with ease.

Okay, they just changed the way to navigate to the teams.

42 games so far, where they've given up three or more goals.

Ugh.

To their credit at least, they've won some of those games.

Yeah, eight of them.

Giving up 3 or more goals in a single game is not path to success.

Of coruse, they've given up too many games where they've given up fewer than three goals and just couldn't score enough.

So, it's a small wonder that they haven't yet been mathematically eliminated.

Yet.

But even if they resume winning following this certain loss, in a game that they're down by three in with less than four minutes to play, it's only a matter of time before they are.

After the first 8 gamer losing streak it was already rough. And doubly rough after the second such streak.

That the third streak of infamy, this time a mere five games didn't mathematically eliminate them is something to be...

Oh and it's now 4-0.

Well, once it was 3-0 the way they've played since November, it was game over wasn't it?

Through it all, it took until tonight for them to be blanked. That's pretty good actually, not getting blanked in a game until the 69th game.

When has any team not been shutout in a season anyway?

And they're still ahead of the shutout game this season with shutout wins and one shutout loss.

That's a positive at least.

Only I hope I haven't done it by mentioning this and they go on and lose the next four in shutouts just so they can't have this positive.

One of the few that they can possibly have this wretched season.

I will not be watching any episodes of Star Trek: The Next Generation tonight so this looks like the point in the day where I bring this posting to an end.

Unless you've been watching Family Feud Canada this season and have been enjoying it, though I must admit that I am so disappointed in the number of families that haven't  been able to win Fast Money.

Even after a game where the first player got them over a hundred points.

I like the host, Gerry Dee, but I don't care for the way old school opening where the families are in a frozen moment. The original Family Feud did away with that forever ago.

Chances are though, you are not.

So this is where I bring the posting day to an end.

Until tomorrow.
